Get Involved
Family involvement is a foundational element of Desert Sky Montessori. Whether it’s showing up to an event (fundraisers, park play dates, or Coffee Chats) or pitching in around campus, families who stay engaged help us build a strong community that, in turn, creates happy and confident kids. By coming together as a group, we form the relationships that support our families and our school.
So how can you get involved? Consider donating to our Annual Fund, volunteering your time, attending a fundraising event, contributing an item from our wish lists, or helping with a little bit of everything! (We’ve got some ideas below.)
How You Can Help
If you have an extra 5 minutes…
Link your Fred Meyer Shopper’s Card with Fred Meyer Community Rewards and select Desert Sky Montessori as the organization you wish to support (you still get all your fuel points!)
Donate redeemable cans and bottles to our BottleDrop Give fundraising drive (blue bags are available in the front office)
Write thank you cards to our community partners
Donate healthy snacks to our school’s emergency food pantry
Buy a book to support your child’s classroom library
Email your employer and ask if they have a charitable giving program that provides matching gifts, community grants, volunteer grants, or Volunteer Time Off (VTO)

If you have an extra hour…
Work in the school garden
Volunteer to do laundry for your child’s classroom
Rake pine needles and pinecones, clean gutters, pick up trash, or tidy field equipment to keep our campus looking beautiful
Sticker our BottleDrop Give blue bags or drop off donated bags at a redemption center
Solicit an item from a local business for our fundraising events
Prepare treats for a bake sale or Teacher Appreciation Week
Attend a Friends of Desert Sky (FODS) meeting to find out about more opportunities
If you have an extra 2 hours…
Be a classroom presenter on your topic of expertise or interest
Read with students in your child’s classroom
Be an ambassador at an open house or parent orientation
Volunteer at a fundraising or community-building event
Help the front office with simple tasks (restocking supplies, organizing files, data entry, basic tech support)
Solicit services or sponsorships for one of our enrichment programs in the works (outdoor kitchen, makerspace, etc.)
If you have time every month…
Manage the Lost & Found area and donate unclaimed items to local shelters
Lead the creation and curation of a Little Free Library on campus
Design event flyers and social media graphics
Join the Friends of Desert Sky (FODS) or one of our Family Volunteer Teams
Join the Desert Sky Board of Directors
If you have no time… you can still help!
Make a suggested donation of $185 per student to our Student Resource Fund to cover the cost of consumable supplies
Make a one-time or recurring donation to our Annual Fund
Make a donation to a project you want to support (reading, STEM, art, garden, field trips, etc.)
